Houston, we have a problem
Thank you to Fast Company for inviting me to share my thoughts on design and ethics in light of Avelo’s shocking decision to partner with ICE
What do you do when an identity you carefully crafted has become, overnight, a face of division? What do you do when a brand you built from a place of love and connection decides to act in support of fear and disconnection? I’ve been holding this question loosely ever since Avelo announced they are under contract with homeland security to fly deportation charters for ICE. A conversation with Bold Journey
I discovered while design is my discipline, people are my purpose
The work I love best lives at the intersection of creativity and counseling, empowering high performers to live and lead with purpose. My incredible clients are executives, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, policymakers, artists, coaches, designers, healers, activists and business people of all stripes– the change-makers, innovators and builders of our bright new future. They tell me I’m kind of a unicorn– a rare amalgam of creative, strategist and sage. They trust me with their deepest truths and we reveal beautiful insights together. Read the entire interview here
Pinch me… I’m a Fast Company Innovation By Design Award Honoree!
My visual identity program for Avelo Airlines was ranked among the Best Graphic Design of 2022 by Fast Company
I'm positively elated to be celebrated alongside the brightest minds in the business for work that's dedicated to helping make the world a safer, fairer, more beautiful place. Gratitude and love to the entire team who helped make this happen. Sing it with me: Purple plane, purple plane!
I’m a ‘2022 Person to Watch’
I’m humbled to be recognized as a 2022 Person to Watch. It’s a particular honor to be celebrated now, as someone who demonstrates “grace, dignity and intelligence” in this “uncertain and unprecedented environment”. Tremendous thanks to Gordon Kaye and GDUSA Magazine for this accolade.
On the evolving role of design in society and business: “As the bridge-builders, translators and mark-makers of humanity, we’re endowed with tremendous responsibility. When we choose with intention where and how we invest our energies, our work becomes more than just work– it becomes our vote.”
Check out my graduation keynote
I recently addressed the graduating class at Shillington School of Graphic Design in NYC as their commencement keynote speaker. What an honor!
While many design school talks focus specifically on practical matters such as portfolio, career path, finding work, interviewing or growing as a designer, I opted to dive much deeper. The resulting keynote is an inspiring, uplifting and useful presentation chock full of wisdom and insights applicable to any human at any stage making their way through life and career.
I’d love to share this work with your teams, students and other people you care about– ask me about speaking at your event or organization.
